What’s included in Legends of Greyhawk: Heralds of the Old One?

Heralds of the Old One is a digital play bundle containing three loosely connected adventures first developed by Baldman Games and run at in-person Legends of Greyhawk organized play events in 2026.

Each adventure is designed for Level 5 to 10 characters and takes roughly 3 to 4 hours to play. The adventures can be run individually or together as part of a mini-campaign. They are as follows:

  • Chains of Dorakaa: Players must infiltrate the dreaded City of Skulls to uncover a growing threat within the Empire of Iuz and connect with a growing resistance against the tyrannical forces which control the citizens.
  • The Devouring Choir: Players are sent on a covert mission to investigate the twisted Horned Society and come face-to-face with demonic forces that threaten all of Oerth.
  • Harbingers of the Dark Night: Players find themselves caught in growing tensions between Iuz and the Horned Society and must choose the lesser of two evils as war threatens to ignite the region.

What is Legends of Greyhawk?

Legends of Greyhawk is an official Dungeons & Dragons organized play program run by third-party organizations including Baldman Games and GameConclave, with approval and support from Wizards of the Coast. The program officially launched in the summer of 2025 at Gen Con and uses the new D&D 5.5E rules. The adventures used in the program are primarily designed to be run at conventions, although materials are released to the general public several months afterward.

Adventures are also designed to be interconnected, helping to shape a larger narrative that influences the whole of the modern Greyhawk setting. Any convention attendee can play in a Legends of Greyhawk adventure, so long as they have created a character in D&D Beyond (using the rules from the 2024 D&D 5.5E Player’s Handbook). Players can also earn physical rewards in the form of tradable magic item cards and other certificates at the end of each play session.

Wizards of the Coast has also released a Legends of Greyhawk Guide which provides more information on character creation, including guidelines on which region of Greyhawk your character can come from, how many magic items you can have based on your level, and how trading magic items with other players works. This document is also regularly updated as new official D&D supplements are released.

Wizards of the Coast has also begun to package and release Legends of Greyhawk adventures as digital “play bundles” on D&D Beyond. In addition to Heralds of the Old One, there have been six other digital bundles released to date on D&D Beyond as follows:

Who is Baldman Games?

Baldman Games is one of the largest official Dungeons & Dragons organized play providers in the world. Operating as an official Partner Organization for Wizards of the Coast, it runs numerous multi-table D&D events at major conventions like Gen Con, Origins and PAX.

Beyond the physical convention floor, Baldman Games also hosts monthly “Virtual D&D Weekends” via Discord and VTT platforms, which are designed for online play.

In addition to managing and organizing D&D convention events, Baldman also designs and publishes official D&D organized play storylines. While it has historically contributed content to the Adventurers League (including the Dreams of the Red Wizards and Moonshae Isles campaigns), it is now one of the primary partner publishers for the new Legends of Greyhawk program.

Final Thoughts

Greyhawk has definitely been getting a lot more attention over the past few months, with Wizards of the Coast announcing a new campaign entitled Crown of the Witch Queen, a new supplement from Luke Gygax entitled Borderlands of Iuz, plus new Greyhawk adventures coming from the D&D Icons line.

These new adventures, however, offer yet another way to experience the world of Oerth in the growing collection of D&D 5.5E organized play products. If you’re interested in running the adventures for yourself, you can pick up Heralds of the Old One now on D&D Beyond.
