What are the new D&D Dragon’s Milk Releases?

The upcoming D&D Dragon’s Milk collaboration was first announced at GenCon 2024 in August and will consist of a limited-edition D20 Brew Bourbon Barrel Aged Stout and Origin Mead Cask Bourbon Whiskey. Both beverages will be available at select retailers, including New Holland Brewing retail locations, starting in November 2024. The release will also include a variety of merchandise, including limited wearables and glassware.

In a recent interview, CEO and founder of New Holland Brewing Company Brett Vanderkamp spoke about the collaboration noting “Not only does our work with Hasbro allow us to honor D&D’s 50-year history, but it also underscores our shared values of creating savored moments and forging lasting friendships.”

Recently appointed Head of D&D Product and Franchise at Wizards of the Coast Jess Lanzillo had a similar response to the collaboration. “We’re super excited to be teaming up with New Holland for D&D’s big anniversary. Together, we’re building on what makes D&D so cool – bringing people together through the shared experience of adventure.”

What is Dragon’s Milk?

Dragon’s Milk is an award-wining line of alcoholic beverages created by the New Holland Brewing Company that consists of a range of stouts and whiskeys. Over the years it’s become incredibly popular, including earning a Gold at the New York International Beer Competition and Silver at the Great American Beer Festival. Additionally, Dragon’s Milk Origin Small Batch Bourbon received the highest honor – a double gold medal – at the 2022 New York International Spirits Competition, was recognized as the “Best in Class” bourbon at the 2023 American Distilling Institute’s (ADI) International Spirits Competition and received a Platinum medal at Fred Minnick’s Ascot Awards in 2023.

Notably, the name was derived from a story told in medieval times in which a knight’s reward for slaying a dragon was the treasured “milk of the dragon,” and the Dragon’s Milk product line has expanded significantly over the past few years, offering a variety of new brews.

Final Thoughts

The 50th anniversary of Dungeons & Dragons has seen the brand undertake a wide range of collaborations, with everything from new postage stamps to Hawaiian shirts and Converse sneakers. The collaboration between D&D and Dragon’s Milk, however, seems like a natural fit and something that will likely resonate with whiskey, beer and RPG aficionados alike.
