WizKids Unveils New D&D Red Dragon Wyrmling Statue

New large scale figure to be released as part of the D&D 50th Anniversary celebration

Let’s face it, you can’t have D&D without a few dragons. And while the legendary creatures have appeared in countless colors and forms over the years, WizKids is showing a slightly more adorable side to the legendary fire breathing monstrosities with their new red dragon wyrmling statue.

Currently available for pre-order, the two-and-a-half-foot tall figure is hand-painted and constructed out of lightweight, high-density foam. In this respect, it’s similar to the baby owlbear and life-sized Mimic foam core statutes that WizKids has previously released as part of their Replica of the Realms series.

The new wyrmling statue is also a part of Dungeons & Dragons upcoming 50th anniversary celebration, with Wizards of the Coast planning for a number of new books and tie-in products.

If you can’t wait that long though and want to snap up you’re very own baby red dragon, you can visit the WizKids website to pre-order one now.

New Red Wyrmling Statue Specs

WizKids might be primarily known for their range of miniatures, but they’ve been getting better and better at creating larger scale figures. The advantage of using foam core is that they can create some pretty massive statues without having them weigh a ton like they would if they were made of ceramics or other materials. This particular sculpt is:

  • 2.5 feet tall
  • Made of high impact foam
  • Hand painted by the WizKids design team
  • Includes certificate of authenticity

There’s a limited run of these figures available, and it’s unlikely that WizKids will be producing more anytime soon, so they’re likely going to get snapped up pretty quickly.

Below you can also check out a few images of what the final product looks like.

How Much is the Red Wyrmling Statue Retailing For?

Retailing for $650 USD (plus shipping), this isn’t a cheap purchase. Then again, the quality and limited manufacturing run definitely makes it a high-end item among both the D&D and collectible community.

If you’ve got enough gold pieces saved up in your dragon’s hoard, you can pre-order yours now from WizKids.
