WizKids’ popular miniatures skirmish game Dungeons & Dragons Onslaught is getting a brand new expansion set that lets you create your very own playable characters. The new D&D Onslaught Custom Character Kits are coming out in early 2026 and feature a series of cards and tokens along with new rules for developing new options for one of the game’s six key roles.
It’s worth noting, however, that you will need either the D&D Onslaught core set or the Tendrils of the Lichen Lich starter set to be able to use this expansion, with the set really being designed for veteran players looking to customize their gameplay experience. Below, we crack open all the details.

What’s included in the D&D Onslaught Custom Character Kit?
The new D&D Onslaught Custom Character Kit includes the following:
- 6 Role Cards
- 28 Tokens
- 65 Ability Cards
- 26 Reaction Cards
- 13 Class Bonus Cards
- 1 Rules Sheet
The primary feature of the set is that you’re able to mix and match the role cards in to create your own character using one of the six pre-existing Onslaught roles. And while the set doesn’t include any new minis, it does include suggestions for swapping out tokens with specific miniatures taken from WizKids existing D&D figure line.

How much is the D&D Onslaught Custom Character Kit?
Each box set retails for $39.99 USD. It’s a similar price point to the past miniatures Expansion packs we’ve seen from WizKids, which retail for about $30 USD and include four minis along with tokens and cards.
When are the New Onslaught Custom Character Kits Coming Out?
The new sets will be available in February 2026, with an exact date to be announced soon.

What is D&D Onslaught?
Dungeons & Dragons Onslaught is a two-player competitive skirmish game developed by WizKids. In the game, each player controls an adventuring party aligned with Forgotten Realms factions such as the Harpers, Red Wizards of Thay and the Zhentarim. Players are presented with a number of specific pre-made scenarios that involve exploring dungeons, battling monsters and taking on the other players’ adventuring parties. The goal is to collect treasure and earn experience points in order to level up characters as each scenario is completed.
The core gameplay resolves actions and combat using a system of dice rolls, upgrade cards and a figure base dial that’s similar to the popular HeroClix miniatures combat game, which is also developed by WizKids.

Final Thoughts
WizKids has been continuing to support Onslaught in a big way, including adding a number of new features that expand the potential of the game. For example, they recently rolled out a new cooperative game mode which in their upcoming Tomb of Horrors expansion. The ability to create your own custom characters, however, offers even more potential and is something that many longtime players have been asking for.
