New Dragonlance Chronicles 40th Anniversary Edition Announced

Over the years, Dragonlance has become one of the most popular of all D&D campaign settings, spawning dozens of adventures and supplements, almost 200 best-selling novels and appearing in countless video games, toys, collectible cards, board games, t-shirts and countless other mediums.

More recently, the world of Krynn has reemerged for a new generation, including the Shadow of the Dragon Queen campaign for DnD 5e, a brand new trilogy of books from original creators Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman, and even an ill-fated Dragonlance TV series from actor Joe Manganiello.

The beating heart of Krynn, however, continues to be the original Dragonlance Chronicles trilogy, which was first published in 1984 and has sold tens of millions of copies around the world. So it’s only fitting that Chronicles return in the form of a new 40th anniversary collector’s edition which is coming in the fall of 2024 and currently available for pre-order now.

So what can fans expect in this celebratory reissue of a Dragonlance classic? Grab your hoopak and dragon orbs, as we fire up all the details.

What’s included in the Dragonlance Chronicles 40th anniversary edition?

The new 2024 anniversary edition collects the original Chronicles trilogy of Dragons of Autumn Twilight, Dragons of Winter Night and Dragons of Spring Dawning. The official publisher’s description reads as follows:

Once merely creatures of legend, the dragons have returned.

But with their arrival comes the departure of the old gods – and with them, all healing magic vanishes and war engulfs the land . . .

Former Comrades and lifelong friends, Sturm the Solamnic knight, Tanis Half-Elf, Tasslehoff Burrfoot the irrepressible Kender, Flint the Dwarf, Caramon the warrior and his twin brother, Raistlin the red-robed mage reunite for an adventure.

Trouble starts when they see a woman use a blue crystal staff to heal a villager. Wondering if it’s a sign the gods haven’t abandoned them after all, they investigate and quickly find themselves catapulted into trouble that will change their lives and the world forever.

In addition to featuring new cover art and a collected format, the book also includes an introduction from Joe Manganiello.

The three covers to the Dragonlance Chronicles book series.

When will the Dragonlance Chronicles 40th anniversary edition be released?

The book will be released on October 3rd, 2024, and will retail for $30 USD. It has not yet been released on Amazon or the Penguin RandomHouse website (which is odd, given that they’re the official publisher), but can be found on the website of UK bookseller Blackwells. It will, however, likely be available for pre-order soon from both physical and online retailers, as well as your local game store.

We’ll be providing a complete review once it’s available, but the meantime you can pre-order it now.
