What is the new DnD LEGO Adventure About?

Dungeons & Dragons: Red Dragon’s Tale is a free, 20-page adventure for DnD fifth edition that’s designed to be played using the new Red Dragon’s Tale LEGO set. Players takes on the role of one of four pre-made Level 5 characters, each of which matches up with one of the LEGO mini figures included in the set: a Dwarf Cleric, Elf Wizard, Gnome Fighter and Orc Rogue.

As the adventure progresses, the Dungeon Master and players actually build the LEGO set, which has a modular design that includes multiple locations, including an inn, a dungeon and a tower. The adventure also features multiple NPCs and monsters, with both associated stat blocks and mini figures, including a gelatinous cube, beholder, dragon, displacer beast and owl bear.

It’s a fairly quick adventure that can be completed in about 2-3 hours, making it an ideal one shot for new players. Notably, the adventure also includes optional rules that provide instructions on how to play without using DnD fifth edition rules, with players essentially taking turns and declaring actions without using any dice rolls.

Cameron Nichols is a Senior Editor who lives in Boston, Massachusetts, and has been playing D&D since the early 90s, when he was introduced by his older brother and cut his teeth on AD&D 2nd Edition. Since then he’s played virtually every RPG he could get his nerdy little mitts on (including a weird Goth phase in the early 2000s when he rocked Vampire: The Masquerade pretty hard). His favorite D&D campaign setting is the Forgotten Realms and his favorite character to play was a Half-Orc Barbarian named Grug (who was unfortunately devoured by a gelatinous cube).
