This coming September, Wizards of the Coast will be releasing a brand-new D&D supplement with a focus on high magic entitled Arcana Unleashed. The book is both a player and DM-facing supplement that features a range of new character options, including eight new subclasses: the Arcana Domain Cleric, Arcane Archer Fighter, Warrior of the Mystic Arts Monk, Vestige Warlock, and four new Wizard schools (the Conjurer, Enchanter, Necromancer and Transmuter).
Full details on these new character options will be revealed when the book hits shelves in a few months, but in the meantime you can pre-order your copy now from your local game store, D&D Beyond and Amazon.
Below, we take a closer look at all the details on these magically delicious D&D subclasses.

What are the new subclasses in Arcana Unleashed?
There eight new subclasses in total. Of these options, only two are new, with the other six appearing in previous D&D 5E supplements (for ease of reference, below we’ve included a note as to whether the subclass is new or an update).
Notably, the more recent incarnation of these character options appeared in the July 2025 Arcane Subclasses playtest and was further refined in the September 2025 Arcana Subclasses Updated. Below are their features as outlined in the UA playtests (although we’ll have to wait and see if the final version from Arcana Unleashed has been further tweaked).
Warrior of the Mystic Arts Monk (New)
This brand new subclass is really a spellcasting version of the Monk, blending Sorcerer magic with traditional martial combat in a way that feels closer to a gish than any prior Monk subclass. The subclass uses full spell slots and prepared spells, drawing from the Sorcerer spell list and keying off Wisdom. Its Mystic Focus feature allows spell slots and Focus Points to be converted back and forth, giving a surprising amount of flexibility. Later features like Mystic Fighting Style also let you weave cantrips and low-level spells directly into physical attacks.
Vestige Patron Warlock (New)
The new subclass introduces a companion-focused Warlock whose power is derived from a forgotten, dying god desperate to reclaim its relevance. At the heart of the subclass is the Vestige Companion, a customizable Celestial, Fiend or Undead entity that acts as both a familiar and a combat asset, scaling directly with your Warlock’s level. The subclass also blends summoning support, granting domain-based spell access and powerful aura effects at higher levels. You can also tap into Cleric-like abilities that can shield allies, prevent death and allow you to temporarily assume the form of a powerful summoned creature.

Arcane Archer Fighter (Updated)
Originally appearing in Xanathar’s Guide to Everything in 2017, the new Arcane Archer, includes a Magical Ammunition feature that also works out of combat (such as creating vines, darkness, or unlocking doors) and retooled features like Curving Shot and Masterful Shots. At higher levels, you also now regain Arcane Shots more frequently and can unleash forceful bursts when using Indomitable, plus counterattack when foes miss you.
Arcana Domain Cleric
Originally introduced in 2015 for the Sword Coast Adventurer’s Guide, the Arcana Domain Cleric blends divine powers with arcane mastery. The new version gains Expertise in the Arcana skill, two wizard cantrips and the ability to reshape your spells on the fly, granting temporary hit points or imposing penalties on saving throws. At higher levels, you can dispel magic as a bonus action after healing or removing conditions and even “borrow” high-level wizard spells for your own use.

Conjurer Wizard (Updated)
Originally appearing in the 2014 Player’s Handbook, the Conjurer Wizard is capable of bending space and summoning allies to aid you in battle. The revised 2026 version now includes an upgraded version of Benign Transposition, which offers more utility in battle. Your also now able to access and use more Conjuration spells in general and you can maintain Concentration on these types of spell even when you’re hit in combat.
Enchanter Wizard
Another base class that original appeared in the 2014 Player’s Handbook, Enchanters specialize in mind-altering magic. The new 2026 version swaps out the Hypnotic Gaze feature for the more versatile Vexing Movement (which allows you to Disengage and Dash after casting an enchantment). It also includes the new and Enchanting Talker feature (granting you an Intelligence bonus on Charisma checks) and the ability to “split” Enchantment spells against multiple targets.

Necromancer Wizard (Updated)
This is another subclass that first appeared in the 2014 PHB, with Necromancers able to tap into the forces of life and death. The new version of the subclass includes a redesigned Spellbook feature that grants necrotic resistance and temporary hit points when casting necromancy spells. You can also now cast Summon Undead for free and gain new abilities that allow you to teleport and regain HP when seriously injured or near death.
Transmuter Wizard (Updated)
Another subclass from the 2014 Player’s Handbook, the new version allows you to create a Transmuter’s Stone that grants resistances, darkvision or saving throw proficiency and can now serve as a spellcasting focus. You also always know Alter Self and Polymorph, each of which also provides unique benefits (such as extra disguise powers, concentration bonuses or retaining mental stats while transformed). Higher-level powers include improved Transmutation spells and a Master Transmuter ability that lets you reshape objects, heal allies, raise the dead or even restore youth.

Final thoughts
We’ll see the complete line up of new subclasses when Arcana Unleashed arrives in September and will be doing a complete deep dive then, noting any changes that were made from the last Unearthed Arcana playtests to the final product.
In the meantime, you can pre-order your copy now from your local game store, D&D Beyond and Amazon.
