The Studio Ghibli-inspired world of Obojima is heading back to D&D Beyond, with a new supplement entitled Obojima: Tales from Yatamon. The book is a follow-up to Obojima: Tales from the Tall Grass, which itself arrived on D&D Beyond back in March 2025. Like its predecessor, Tales from Yatamon also got its start on crowdfunding, where its Kickstarter raised almost $1 million USD from backers in the fall of 2025. A PDF verison was later released in 2026 and the hardcover is currently available for pre-order to the general public.
Yet while Tales from the Tall Grass covered the entire island of Obojima, this new supplement zooms in on the city Yatamon, a metropolis that mixes magic, manga and the modern world. It’s equal parts Kiki’s Delivery Service and Spirited Away, with a dash of Legend of Zelda thrown in for good measure. You can pick it up now on D&D Beyond.
Below, we head into the streets of Yatamon and check out all the details of this new digital release.

What’s included in Obojima: Tales from Yatamon on D&D Beyond?
Obojima: Tales from Yatamon is a sourcebook that takes a deep dive into the city of Yatamon, with all-new lore and mechanics for players and DMs. Parties can explore the city’s winding streets and many businesses, tangle with its spirits and demons, and even take part in the Great Slime Hunt. The book includes:
- 3 subclasses, including the Neko Duelist Fighter, Coven Patron Warlock and Fortune Rogue
- 20 new spells that are steeped in urban lore
- 20 city based creatures with a corresponding disposition system.
- 10 magic items that you can get from speciality shops and vending machines
- 6 Feats for inhabitants of the city
- 10 vehicles with new rules for how to operate them
- 20+ detailed locations in the city
It’s also worth noting that, unlike the D&D Beyond release of Tales from the Tall Grass, which launched using the 2014 D&D 5E rules, Tales from Yatamon is designed for the 2024 D&D 5.5E ruleset.

How much is Obojima: Tales from Yatamon?
Obojima: Tales from Yatamon retails for $29.99 USD on D&D Beyond, which is the same price as the PDF on the official Obojima store. If you’d rather have a physical copy, the hardcover is available for pre-order for $39.99 USD (not including shipping and handling), with an estimated release of December 2026.
As with Tales from the Tall Grass, what you’re really paying for with the D&D Beyond version is the ability to use the new subclasses, spells, feats, backgrounds and magic items on the platform. If you already run your games on D&D Beyond and are interested, it’s an easy pick-up. If not, you’re probably better off buying the PDF or hardcover directly from 1985 Games.

Who is 1985 Games?
1985 Games is a Portland-based TTRPG accessory maker and publisher founded by Lenny Gotter and Jeremiah Crofton. Before Obojima, the studio was best known for its range of tabletop accessories, including dice sets, journals and its popular Dungeon Craft Battlemaps.
Obojima: Tales from the Tall Grass was the first major TTRPG supplement published by 1985 Games, and was a massive success, raising over $2.6 million USD on Kickstarter. Notably, the follow-up Tales from Yatamon Kickstarter also featured a board game entitled Yanari The Witch’s Market. They have plans for a follow-up solo board game entitled Onaka and the Witch’s Intern which will be coming to Kickstarter soon.

Final Thoughts
Obojima: Tales from Yatamon marks another major third-party release on D&D Beyond, and the second from 1985 Games. It also proves Obojima is no one-hit wonder, and that there’s clearly an appetite for cozy “leisure fantasy” that breaks away from D&D’s traditional dungeon crawls and monster battles.
If the idea of and a modern city of slime hunts, haunted vending machines and floating magical fish sounds like jam, you can pick up the supplement now on D&D Beyond.
