Grim Hollow Player’s Guide & Campaign Guide Now on D&D Beyond

The dark and gritty world of Grim Hollow is coming back to D&D Beyond, with both the complete Player’s Guide and Campaign Guide available now available for purchase as digital options, either separately or as part of a new D&D Beyond bundle.

The release of the books, which were first published by Ghostfire Gaming in 2023 and later revised in 2025, marks yet another major third-party creator to appear on Wizards of the Coast digital platform and offers a setting that’s much more brutal and steeped in horror than your typical high fantasy D&D world. Notably, both books also use the new DnD 2024 rules set.

So are these two terrifying titles worth picking up? Below, we uncover all the grizzly details.

What’s included in the “Grim Hollow Player’s Guide” on D&D Beyond?

The Grim Hollow: Player’s Guide is a 250+ page expansion that contains all of the material featured in the original Grim Hollow: The Player’s Guide (which was first published by Ghostfire Gaming in 2023) and which was later revised as part of the Grim Hollow: Transformed Kickstarter which was successfully funded in 2024 (and which, as of this publication is not yet available for purchase by the general public).

At it’s core, the book is really designed to provide a range of character options with a mix of dark fantasy and horror, and while it was technically created for Grim Hollow’s setting of Etharis, it can really be used in just about any D&D campaign world.

Specifically, the new Player’s Guide on D&D Beyond contains the following:

  • 21 species (including the puppet-like Wechselkind, the aquatic Laneshi and the fallen angels known as the Downcast)
  • 1 new class (the Monster Hunter)
  • 40 new subclasses (including the Circle of Blood Druid, Parasite Warlock and Vermin Lord Ranger)

  • 25 Backgrounds
  • 41 Feats
  • 102 spells
  • 82 new items

It’s important to note that the book does use the new DnD 2024 rules. Some of the character options were included in the Grim Hollow Player’s Pack, which was previously released on D&D Beyond.

What’s included in the “Grim Hollow Campaign Guide” on D&D Beyond?

The Grim Hollow Campaign Guide is designed for Dungeon Masters and provides a detailed look at the world of Etharis, a realm that’s similar to the D&D Ravenloft setting in that it’s filled with undead creatures, dark magic and terrifying monsters. The book includes:

  • 7 unique regions (with lore and history)
  • New rules for corruption, wounds and rest
  • Adventure hooks and faction details
  • 8 regional City Guides

  • 113 Magic Items
  • 9 maps
  • 24 Monsters

As with the Player’s Guide, the Campaign Guide also uses the new DnD 2024 rules.

How much are the new Grim Hollow Guides on D&D Beyond?

Currently, the prices on D&D Beyond are as follows:

  • Grim Hollow Player’s Guide: $39.99 USD (notably the new 2025 revised version of The Grim Hollow Player’s Guide is not yet available to the public outside of Kickstarter).
  • Grim Hollow Campaign Guide: $39.99 USD (as with the Player Guide, the 2025 version of The Campaign Guide is not yet available to the public beyond Kickstarter).

  • Grim Hollow 2024 Bundle: This package includes both the Player’s Guide and Campaign Guide and retails for $69.99 USD on D&D Beyond (so you’re saving about $10 USD if you bundle them together).

It’s worth noting that you can do a late pledge on The Grimhollow Transformed Kickstarter, with PDFs the books selling for $30 USD each and print versions going for $65 USD each (not including shipping and handling).

What you’re paying for with the D&D Beyond version, however, is really the ability to add the new species, subclasses, magic items and equipment into the character generation system. It’s also not clear when the revised Grim Hollow Player’s Guide and Campaign Guide will be available to the general public or how much they’ll cost, so if you’re looking to get ahead of the game and missed out on the Kickstarter, D&D Beyond is really the only place you can get the new content from (at least for now).

Final Thoughts

Over the past few years, Grim Hollow has become an incredibly popular third-party setting for Dungeons & Dragons fifth edition, so it’s great to see its content continuing appearing on D&D Beyond. If you’re looking for something a little darker, grittier and more horrifying than your typical D&D world, chances are you’ll dig these supplements.

You can buy both books either individually or separately now on D&D Beyond.
