Dungeons & Dragons is heading back to the dark side with its latest Unearthed Arcana playtest. Entitled the Villainous Options Update, this is actually the third playtest in the series, following Villainous Options and Villainous Options 2 (both of which were UAs released in April 2026).
This latest drop, however, serves up heavily revised versions of three previously playtested subclasses: the Circle of the Titan Druid, the Hell Knight Fighter and the Demonic Sorcery Sorcerer. The packet also contains brand-new material featuring a range of infernal Origin Feats and Epic Boons.
As with the other two Villainous Options UAs, it’s still not clear what D&D sourcebook the materials are designed for (although all signs point to a new version of The Book of Vile Darkness). Below, we pick apart all the demonic details.

What’s included in the new Villainous Options Update?
This latest UA contains both updates to several previously revealed subclasses as well as new Feats as follows:
Subclass Updates
There are three modified versions of subclasses that were first presented in the original Villainous Options playtest. They are as follows:
- Circle of the Titan (Druid): These druids can tap into primal powers that allow them to assume towering, monstrous forms. At Level 3, instead of standard Wild Shape beasts, you can adopt a kaiju-like “Titan Form” (choosing between a Behemoth, Leviathan or Insectoid) for up to 10 minutes. As you gain Druid levels, this form grows drastically in power and scale. You can eventually become Huge at Level 10 and Gargantuan at Level 14. Once Gargantuan, you even gain the ability to swallow grappled enemies whole, trapping them in your stomach to take Acid damage.
- Hell Knight (Fighter): Hell Knights are the champions of archdevils and other high-ranking fiends of the Nine Hells. At Level 3, you receive a Diabolical Gift, granting you Devil’s Sight and fluency in Infernal. You can also imbue your weapons with hellfire to forge a Hell-Forged Weapon, allowing you to deal your choice of Cold, Fire or Necrotic damage. Later levels allow you to apply devastating effects to these wounds, such as caustic pus or Stygian gangrene.
- Demonic Sorcery (Sorcerer): These magic users tap into the corrupting, arcane energy of demons and the Abyss. At Level 3, activating Innate Sorcery creates an Abyssal Rupture, which fills a 10-foot-radius Sphere with Abyssal energy. At Level 6, you can pull direct influence from specific Abyssal layers to force enemies to move erratically or succumb to the Poisoned or Charmed conditions. At Level 18, you can unleash an Abyssal Explosion, filling a 30-foot-radius Sphere with force damage that incapacitates non-Fiends.

New Origin and Epic Boon Feats
The playtest also introduces four new Origin Feats and four new Epic Boons (which are also technically feats) as follows:
Origin Feats
- Atoner’s Grace: Grants a disarming air that prevents Hostile attitudes from imposing Disadvantage on Persuasion checks, and allows you to grant Advantage to nearby allies when you negotiate with hostile forces.
- Raised by Cultists: Allows you to take a Reaction to gain Heroic Inspiration when Bloodied, and gives allies Advantage on Constitution saving throws to maintain Concentration.
- Trapper: Grants an eye for detail on Investigation checks, swift tracking abilities and the power to set a Hunting Trap as a Bonus Action.
- Underhanded: Makes you elusive by allowing 10 feet of movement right after rolling Initiative, and lets you fight dirty by knocking larger enemies Prone when they miss an Opportunity Attack.

Epic Boon Feats (Prerequisite: Level 19+)
- Boon of the Bandit King: Increases an ability score by 1, grants Advantage on Sleight of Hand checks to pick pockets and makes you uncatchable by preventing Opportunity Attacks when leaving a creature’s reach.
- Boon of the Cleansed Heart: Increases an ability score by 1, lets you cast Dispel Evil and Good without expending a spell slot and grants Immunity to Necrotic damage alongside a radiant reflection counter-attack.
- Boon of the Hunter’s Eye: Increases an ability score by 1, allows quick capture of low-health enemies and reveals a creature’s Immunities, Resistances or Vulnerabilities upon rolling Initiative.
- Boon of Unwavering Devotion: Increases an ability score by 1, grants automatic success on saving throws against possession and visual illusions, and allows you to force enemies to reroll successful Wisdom saves against your effects.

Final Thoughts
Over the past year we’ve seen Wizards of the Coast begin to scale up their Unearthed Arcana playtests, and it’s always great to see the company respond to player feedback. Of course, it’s worth remembering that all of the content is a work-in-progress and things could still change. We’ll be keeping a close eye on future UAs in the days ahead and will likely be learning more soon about the new book that will feature these villainous options.
In the meantime, you can check out all the material for yourself via the Unearthed Arcana page or download the PDF directly. Player feedback opens on June 25th, 2026.
