D&D Beyond has just released released a mysterious new blog post and teaser video for something known as “Project_Lamordia.” The content seems to be a reimagining of the titular Domain of Dread known as Lamordia, which has appeared in countless Ravenloft supplements over the years and is home to the Frankenstein-inspired character of Victor Mordenheim.

An D&D Beyond blog post (which has since been taken down) seemed to indicate that Project Lamordia would be a Level 1-3 adventure using character options from Ravenloft: The Horrors Within. Project Lamordia will be officially released on D&D Beyond October 13th, 2026.

Below, we take a closer look at everything we know so far.

What is Project Lamordia about?

So far very few details have been released, but on the official D&D Beyond blog post they note that: “Project_Lamordia is the result of a thought experiment in which a classic Domain of Dread in the Ravenloft setting was transformed into a modern-day techno-thriller nightmare realm.”

According to the now-removed D&D Beyond blog post, it will be a Level 1 to 3 adventure that will also include optional survival-horror rules to create Level 0 “citizen” player characters who must use their wits to stay alive rather than any heroic abilities. The adventure itself will take place in a research facility known as Mordenheim Kinetics, which was founded by the Darklord Viktra Mordenheim and filled with computer technology, twisted experiments and endless industrial corridors.

The result is something that looks like the Ravenloft version of the Lumen facility from Apple TV’s Severance, with a touch of the liminal horror of The Backrooms thrown in for good measure.

When will Project Lamordia be released?

The adventure will be officially released on October 13th, 2026 just in time for Halloween. The timing is, however, a bit odd as Ravenloft: The Horrors Within was released back June 2026 as part of the Season of Horror (which itself ran from April to June).

How much is Project Lamordia?

A price point has not yet been confirmed. It also hasn’t been confirmed what format the adventure will appear in (although a digital D&D Beyond version seems the most likely). Notably, Wizards of the Coast recently said they would be bringing back shorter D&D modules, so it’s possible this may also be available in print.

What is Lamordia in D&D lore?

Lamordia is a bleak, lifeless Domain of Dread known for its pursuit of science through dark sorcery and steampunk technology. The geography is a bleak and inhospitable realm of snow-covered forests, impassable mountains and frozen seas. The few settlements in the Domain resemble the real-world European Renaissance-era in terms of culture and technology.

In the original lore of Ravenloft, Lamordia was also known as the dwelling of Dr. Victor Mordenheim, a Dr. Frankenstein-like figure who constructed the flesh golem turned Dark Lord known as Adam. The domain’s lore, however, was recently updated in 2026 and its Darklord is now Dr. Viktra Mordenheim, who resurrected her lost love Alice using an artificial heart.

Over the years, Lamordia has appeared in numerous official D&D products across editions. It was first detailed in the 1990 Realm of Terror boxed set for AD&D 2nd Edition, which established its geography, society, and darklord. The domain was then further fleshed out in the 1994 adventure Adam’s Wrath by Lisa Smedman and its sequel adventure The Awakening, which came out a few months later. A Ravenloft novel written by Chet Williamson entitled Mordenheim and also published in 1994, adding further backstory to Victor Mordenheim and the domain.

Lamordia appeared again in the 2001 Ravenloft Core Rulebook published by Arthaus/White Wolf for D&D 3.5 and was later revised in 2021 for Van Richten’s Guide to Ravenloft. More recently it appeared in the 2026 supplement Ravenloft: The Horrors Within which saw a major overhaul of the Domain and its lore.

Final Thoughts

It’s interesting to see the D&D design team take some unusual risks with their content and produce adventure and marketing materials that we haven’t really seen before (even if the timing is a little off). Whether or not Project Lamordia will deliver the goods, however, remains to be seen.

We’ll be keeping a close eye on this story in the days ahead and will update this page with new information as it’s made available. In the meantime, you can check out a teaser video for Project Lamordia which is hosted on the official D&D YouTube channel.
