New Official DnD Journals Coming Soon for Players and DMs

When it comes to Dungeons & Dragons, sometimes the difference between life and death can come down to nothing more than a good set of notes. Enter a new pair of official DnD journals from Wizards of the Coast and Random House that are designed to keep track of all the ins and outs of your game.

Entitled The Player’s Campaign Journal and The Dungeon Master’s Campaign Journal, both are coming out later in 2025 and will be available at book stores, local game stores and online retailers. They aren’t just blank pages, however, and instead include prompts and templates designed specifically to track your campaign. Each book also features brand new art on both the front and back.

So are these new DnD journals worth scribbling your notes in? Below, we take jot down all the details.

What are the new DnD Journals?

The Player’s Campaign Journal is 192 pages in length and contains a number of prompts and templates to help players track party members, NPCs, factions and treasure. It also includes a new section that allows you to monitor the status of your Bastion. The book also features a back pocket for extra storage and a elastic band to hold the whole thing together. It retails for $24.99 USD.

The Dungeon Master’s Campaign Journal is similar in format and comes in at 208 pages. It also includes prompts and templates specifically designed to help DMs track their campaign when it comes to plot points, locations, quests and magic items. It too contains a storage pocket, elastic holder and retails for $24.99 USD.

Notably, both books feature new artwork from illustrator Hydro74 (who has done a number of other D&D products over the years). The Player’s Campaign Journal features a Roper on the front and a gelatinous cube on the back, while The Dungeon Master’s Campaign Journal features the villainous Venger (from the 1980s D&D cartoon) on the front and the enigmatic Warduke on the back.

What other DnD Journals have been released?

In the past few years, we’ve seen a number of popular DM notebooks created by third-party publishers. There have also been several recent official DnD notebooks created under license from Wizards of the Coast. This includes The Book of Holding (which is more of a traditional journal) and The Book of Concealment (which doubles as both a DnD journal and a DM’s screen).

Both of those products also feature original artwork from Hydro74 and have a similar price point to the new journals coming out in 2025.
