Latest line of plushies introduces a number of classic Dungeons & Dragons monsters
Over the past few years, Kidrobot has released a number of amazing DnD plush toys as part of their “Phunny” line developed in partnership with WizKids and Wizards of the Coast. We’ve seen everything from classic characters like Drizzt Do’Urden, to iconic monsters including beholders, owl bears, gelatinous cubes and mimics.
Now Kidrobot has released a new wave of DnD plushies, adding four new monsters to the roster, including a black dragon, an intellect devourer, a bullywug and a rust monster. Below we break out all the details, along with photos of each new toy.
Black Dragon Plush
Based on one of DnD’s most fearsome creatures, the acid spewing, swamp loving black dragon gets the full plush treatment. This particular version sits at 7.5 inches tall and features the creature’s iconic color scheme. Notably, this is actually the third dragon Kidrobot has introduced in the Phunny DnD plush line, with previous waves including a standard red dragon and the adorably chubby Themberchaud.
Intellect Devourer Plush
Intellect Devourers remains one of DnD’s most instantly recognizable monsters, even going so far as to make an appearance in the new D&D film Honor Among Thieves. This plush version of the brain-devouring beasts stands 8 inches tall and features the creature in a classic pose. Incidentally, it’s a perfect companion piece for the Phunny Mindflayer plush that Kidrobot released several years ago.
Bullywug Plush
Bullywugs might be a lesser known and not particularly fearsome monster, but they make an amazing DnD plush. The new toy sits at 8 inches tall and like all Kidrobot plushies has some solid details. The addition of the spear is an added nice touch, and they really seem to have done a great job of capturing the personality of these mischievous, mayhem-inducing creatures.
Rust Monster Plush
Rust Monsters are another classic DnD creature that’s appeared in virtually every edition of the game (and also had a very brief cameo in Honor Among Thieves). These metal scrap devouring creatures have a unique design that seems to really lend itself well to a plush and Kidrobot seems to have done a solid job of keeping the look of the monster while making it incredibly adorable at the same time.
Final Thoughts
It’s great to see that Kidrobot and WizKids are keeping the Phunny line of DnD plush toys going. There’s an almost limitless number of monsters to choose from, so it’ll be cool to see what they come up with next. In the meantime, if you’re interested in adding these cuddly creatures to your collection, they’ll be available for order in April 2024.
