Immersive Quest D&D “Touring Experience” Coming to Toronto

Dungeons & Dragons fans in the Great White North will soon be getting an interactive “touring experience” this fall in Toronto. Dubbed The Immersive Quest: A D&D Experience, details are still a little vague on what’s actually included, but the event will likely blend a combination of live theatre, physical sets, interactive multimedia and audience participation.

So just what can Canadian D&D fans expect from when the Immersive Quest hits? Below, we break out everything we know so far.

What Is “The Immersive Quest: A D&D Experience”?

The Immersive Quest was announced on September 9th, 2024 in a short interview with Hasbro UK Licensing Director Catrina O’Brien, who was promoting a number of key D&D products for Brand Licensing Europe, an annual conference which bring together major entertainment IP holders from around the world.

In the interview, O’Brien notes that: “There is also a brand-new interactive touring experience called ‘The Immersive Quest: A D&D Experience,’ that starts off in Toronto this fall.” Unfortunately, no other details are provided in the interview and Wizards of the Coast hasn’t yet released any additional information anywhere else.

One possibility, however, is that it may be similar to the recent Minecraft Experience: Villager Rescue, which is taking place in Dallas, Texas in October 2024. That event is described as “immersive, interactive adventure that uses large-scale projections, physical sets, music, sound, and lighting effects to bring the game world to life.” Players receive digital devices that allow them to interact with content and navigate a large game world that includes touch displays, physical challenges, arcade elements and escape room-like puzzles. It’s possible that The Immersive Quest will have a similar approach with a D&D theme.

Final Thoughts

The Immersive Quest isn’t the only live D&D multimedia event taking place this year. In fact, there are several similar events, including the off-Broadway improv show The Twenty Sided Tavern, which opened in New York and is set to tour the US starting in 2025. Similarly, the Universal Studios Hollywood theme park also recently announced plans for Fan Fest Nights that includes interactive D&D elements for after-hour guests. It’s possible that The Immersive Quest may borrow similar elements from both of these events.

We’ll be keeping a close eye on this story in the days ahead and will update this page with new information as it becomes available.

Cameron Nichols is a Senior Editor who lives in Boston, Massachusetts, and has been playing D&D since the early 90s, when he was introduced by his older brother and cut his teeth on AD&D 2nd Edition. Since then he’s played virtually every RPG he could get his nerdy little mitts on (including a weird Goth phase in the early 2000s when he rocked Vampire: The Masquerade pretty hard). His favorite D&D campaign setting is the Forgotten Realms and his favorite character to play was a Half-Orc Barbarian named Grug (who was unfortunately devoured by a gelatinous cube).
