FanRoll Unveils New Official D&D Dragon Scale Dice

Things are about to get a little scaly for dice creator FanRoll, with the company recently unveiling two new sets of D&D Dragon Scale Dice. Both use the official Dungeons & Dragons license and are designed to mimic the look and feel of dragon skin, with one made from silicon and the other from metal.

This new collection actually marks a continuation of their popular Dragon Storm line of dice which also featured scale dice in a variety of colors and materials. They’re available now from local game stores, the FanRoll website or Merchoid. So are these scaly math rocks worth adding to your dice hoard? Below, we roll into all the details.

What are the new FanRoll Dragon Scale dice?

There are currently two sets available in the new Dragon Scale collection, both of which officially use the D&D brand.

Red Dragon Scale Silcon Dice: This set contains 7 dice (d4, d6, d8, d10, d10%, d12 and d20), all of which are made out silicone using a new manufacturing process that makes them more durable and gives a bit more bounce when you’re rolling them. They also contain a unique textured pattern designed to simulate dragon scales. Notably, the back of the box contains official D&D artwork of a red dragon which is taken from the new 2025 Monster Manual. It will also be the first in a set of dice representing the evil aligned chromatic dragon colors (red, black, blue, green and white).

Gold Gold Scale Metal Dice: This set also contains 7 standard dice (d4, d6, d8, d10, d10%, d12 and d20) and features a raised, textured pattern designed to mimic dragon scales. They are, however, made from metal and designed to resemble gold. Like the other set, the box also contains official D&D artwork using the new gold dragon design featured in the 2025 Monster Manual. It will also be the first in a set of dice representing the lawfully-aligned metallic dragon colors (gold, silver, bronze, copper and brass).

How much are FanRoll’s D&D Dragon Scale Dice sets?

The Red Dragon Scale Dice Set will retail for $29.99 USD, while the Gold Dragon Scale Dice retail for $49.99 USD (not including shipping and handling). Both price points are comparable to what we see with other high end, officially licensed D&D dice sets.

What other D&D dragon scale dice are available from Fanroll?

There are actually a few other sets which were released last year as part of FanRoll’s “Dragon Storm” collection, all of which are still available for purchase:

Final Thoughts

In a market crowded with a dragon hoard’s worth of dice, FanRoll produces some absolutely stunning math rocks and these new sets offer something genuinely unique in terms of their look and feel. While they’re a little on the pricey side, they’re also something that dice goblins will likely swoop on.

You can pick up your own official D&D Dragon Scale Dice now from your local game store, the FanRoll website or Merchoid.
