The Father of Faerûn himself is returning to the world he created. In a recent post on his Patreon account, Ed Greenwood announced that he will be releasing four new Forgotten Realms D&D supplements over the course of 2026. Although Greenwood is the creator of the Forgotten Realms the new books will not be official products from Wizards of the Coast and instead will be developed by third-party RPG publisher Mythmakers Studio and distributed on DMsGuild under the current D&D creative commons license.
The news also comes hot on the heels of two major D&D supplements Adventures in Faerûn and Heroes of Faerûn, both of which were the first official Forgotten Realms D&D products to be released from WotC in over a decade.
So just what can fans expect in this return to the Realms? Below, we break out everything we know so far.

What are the new Ed Greenwood Forgotten Realms D&D books?
On his Patreon post Ed Greenwood stated that the upcoming books will be published under a new creative imprint called RealmsBound, which is focused specifically on publishing new third-party D&D content for the Forgotten Realms. Each year, RealmsBound will publish a series of books focused on one particular region. In 2026, the focus will be on the Dalelands, with a new supplement released each quarter.
On a subsequent blog post on the Mythmakers website, the four books are listed as follows:
- Guide to the Dalelands: A comprehensive guide to the Dalelands, featuring regional and settlement maps, an expansive DM section, a dedicated player’s guide and a set of introductory adventures. To be released in Q1 2026.
- Inn Sites of the Dalelands: Focused on social encounters, this supplement features the inns and NPCs of the Dalelands. Find a plethra of mini-games, as well as details on local holidays, festivals and regional tournaments. To be released Q2 2026.
- Delves of the Dalelands: Focuses on the legendary dangers of the Dalelands with this collection of sprawling, perilous sites filled with secrets and story potential. To be released Q3 2026.
- Adventures in the Dalelands: An anthology featuring Dalelands adventures for Levels 1 to 12, with guidance for expanding into higher-level play. To be released Q4 2026.
Notably, the RealmsBound project is being supported by Mythmakers Studio founder Eric Menge, who will serve as a Creative Director. Greenwood will also be supported by a writing team of experienced TTRPG designers (although the full roster has not yet been announced).

When will Ed Greenwood’s new Forgotten Realms D&D books be released?
An official release date has not yet been released, although we do know that each of the four books will be released on a quarterly basis throughout 2026.
How much are the new D&D Forgotten Realms books?
The price for the four D&D sourcebooks has not yet been confirmed and we also don’t know if on DMsGuild they’ll be available in both PDF and print formats. We will, however, update this page with details as soon as they are made available.

Final Thoughts
The four upcoming sourcebooks aren’t the first time Ed Greenwood has independently published his own D&D content for the Forgotten Realms. In fact, he’s either directly written or contributed to a number of other supplements on DMsGuild, including the Border Kingdoms in 2018, Elminster’s Candlekeep Companion in 2020, Darkhold: Secrets of the Zhentarim in 2020 and Thay Land of Red Wizards in 2022.
Notably, the Dalelands were also a major feature of hthe Adventures in Faerûn book, so it will be interesting to see what new ground Greenwood and the team at Mythworks are able to cover.
We’ll be keeping a close eye on this story in the days ahead and will update this page with new information as it’s made availbale. You can also learn more on the RealmsBound website.
