At this year’s Gen Con, Wizards of the Coast announced the arrival of a new official D&D World of Warcraft sourcebook. The product is part of the larger D&D Universes Beyond crossover line and will feature a range of classes, species, locations and lore taken from Blizzard’s iconic MMORPG franchise.
As part of the upcoming release, Wizards of the Coast will also be releasing a D&D World of Warcraft Map Pack, which will be available in digital and physical formats. The product will feature 10 individual maps and the Icecrown Citadel Adventure (a digital-only module designed for levels 16-20 characters and based on one of WoW’s most infamous dungeons).
The map pack will be released in November 2026 at the same time as the new sourcebook. You can, however, pre-order it now from your local game store, D&D Beyond and Amazon.
So just what can D&D and WoW fans expect in this new cartographic crossover? Below, we raid all the details.
What’s included in the D&D World of Warcraft Map Pack?
There are two different versions of the map pack, one physical (with gridded fold-out posters that can be used at the table) and the other digital (with assets designed exclusively for the D&D Beyond Maps VTT). All of the maps are for the accompanying Icecrown Citadel Adventure.
Physical Version
- 10 maps printed on five double-sided posters (each of which is 22” x 30” in size)
- Cardboard monster tokens, traps and arcane terrain pieces.
- A D&D Beyond code for the Icecrown Citadel Adventure
Digital Version
- 10 digital maps for use with the D&D Beyond Maps VTT
- 10 digital stickers that can be dragged and dropped in the VTT

What is the Icecrown Citadel Adventure?
The adventure included in the D&D WoW Map Pack is designed for Levels 16 to 20 characters and features:
- 5 individual story chapters
- 10 unique locations (using the accompanying maps)
- 10 boss encounters
- 16 new magic items
The adventure is inspired heavily by the lore and in-game content featured in the World of Warcraft MMORPG. It’s worth noting, however, that there is no print version available of the adventure, and it is only accessible on D&D Beyond.
What is Icecrown Citadel in World of Warcraft lore?
In official World of Warcraft lore, Icecrown Citadel stands as the dwelling place for the dreaded Lich King and the central command fortress of the undead horde known as the Scourge. Located in the frozen wastes of Northrend, it is constructed primarily from saronite (the hardened blood of an ancient god). It is also the location of the Frozen Throne, the literal seat of power of the Lich King Arthas Menethil (a once-noble ruler who was corrupted by evil).
In the real world, Icecrown Citadel first appeared as an overworld zone landmark with the release of the World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King expansion on November 2008. It was later fully unlocked as the expansion’s flagship 10- and 25-player endgame raid instance on December 2009, as part of Patch 3.3.0, entitled “Fall of the Lich King.”
The iconic fortress has since featured prominently across several other WoW releases, including serving as the core theme and setting for the Hearthstone digital card game expansion Knights of the Frozen Throne in August 2017, It also played a key role in in the story featured in the World of Warcraft: Shadowlands in November 2020, and later returned as an active raid location during World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King Classic in October 2022.
How much is the D&D World of Warcraft Map Pack?
The physical version of the map pack retails for $29.99 USD (not including shipping and handling), while the D&D Beyond digital version is $19.99 USD. Notably, you can also pre-order a Digital + Physical Bundle that retails for $29.99 USD.

When is the D&D World of Warcraft Map Pack coming out?
Both the physical and digital version will be released on November 17th, 2026 to coincide with the release of the D&D World of Warcraft sourcebook. It will also be a featured accessory for the new Season of Champions that’s running from October to December of this year.
Final thoughts
The crossover between Dungeons & Dragons and World of Warcraft feels like a solid match for fans of both franchises. Releasing a map pack with an adventure inspired by one of Blizzard’s most iconic in-game locations also feels like a smart way to flesh out the setting. Whether or not fans will venture iinto the chambers of Icecrown Citadel, however, remains to be seen.
