Last year, Wizards of the Coast announced that a “surprise product” would be launching sometime in October 2025. We now know that this mystery release is a new DnD Stranger Things box set entitled Welcome to the Hellfire Club. The set, which is the second official DnD tie-in to Netflix’s Stranger Things TV series, will feature four unique adventures along with maps, tokens, handouts and booklets that are loosely connected to the show’s plot. The box set is available for pre-order now from your local game store, as well as on Amazon and D&D Beyond.
So is this latest DnD Stranger Things collab worth venturing into the Upside Down for? Below, we break out all the details.

What will be included in “Welcome to the Hellfire Club” DnD Box Set?
The new DnD Stranger Things box set is based on the show’s Hellfire Club, a Dungeons & Dragons group founded by the show’s metal loving hero Eddie Munson (played by actor Joseph Quinn). As such it has a distinctive 80s vibe to the art and content. It includes the following:
Adventure Booklets
The set will include four adventure booklets designed for characters from Levels 1 to 3. They are entitled: The Vanishing Gnome, Scream of the Crop, Ballad of the Rat King and Devil, Metal, Die! In addition to being complete adventures that take place in the new fictional location of “Greyhawkins”, they also include DM tips from Eddie Munson himself. Notably, the art for each mimics the same style and fonts as classic D&D modules from the 1980s.

The set will also include a Quick-Start Guide that walks you through the box’s various components and how to get started, along with a Play Guide that features the basic rules and a detailed glossary. Notably, both of these are similar to what we saw with the new Heroes of the Borderlands DnD Starter Set (although Wizards of the Coast has not specifically said that the new Stranger things set is designed for new players).

Dungeon Master’s Screen
The set will also include a new DMs screen that features original artwork inspired by Stranger Thing’s Hellfire Club and includes the standard rules and reference tables on the inside that use the DnD 2024 mechanics. Notably, this was something we didn’t see included in the Heroes of the Borderlands Starter Set.
Dice Set
Welcome to the Hellfire Club also includes 11 dice (a d4, four d6s, d8, d10, d12, two d20s, and a percentile die).

Retro-themed character sheets
The set also includes 15 printed character sheets. Five of these features pre-made characters based on the PCs played by Stranger Things protagonists: Lady Applejack (played by Erica Sinclair) Nog the Dwarf (played by Dustin Henderson), Sundar the Bold (played by Lucas Sinclair), Tayr the Paladin (played by Mike Wheeler) and Will the Wise (played by Will Byers). The remaining 10 character sheets are blank and ready to be used right out of the box. Notably, all of them have a retro 80s design which mimics basic D&D.

Spell, Monster and Magic Items Cards
The set includes over 90 unique printed cards, including 36 Spell Cards (designed for Levels 1 to 3) 20 Magic Item Cards (including both familiar and new items) and 30 Monster Cards (the latter of which includes art on the front and stat blocks on the back and include several new creatures, including Demobats and Demodogs). These also mimic an 80s art style and are similar in nature to what we saw with the 2025 DnD Starter Set.

Poster Maps & Player Handouts
The new DnD Stranger Things box set will also include two double-sided poster maps (that are focused on the new realm of “Greyhawkins”) and which are gridded for use with miniatures and tokens. It also also includes several printed player hand outs (which are designed to have been created by Eddie Munson as part of his ongoing campaign).
Cardboard Tokens
The box will also include 72 cardboard punch-out tokens. This includes 5 player character tokens and 67 NPC and monster tokens. Notably, they all have a black and white retro OSR style.

When will the new Stranger Things DnD box set be released?
The “Welcome to the Hellfire Club” set is scheduled for release on October 7th, 2025. This is designed to coincide with the release of the fifth and final season of Stranger Things on Netflix, with Volume 1 (Episodes 1-4) premiering on November 26th, Volume 2 (Episodes 5-7) premiering on December 25th and the series finale (Episode 8) premiering on December 31st. Unlike other D&D products, it will not be released early for individuals who pre-ordered it on D&D Beyond or from local game stores.

How much is the new “Welcome to the Hellfire Club” box Set?
The new DnD Stranger Things DnD box set retails for $49.99 USD. This is a comparable price point to the upcoming Heroes of the Borderlands DnD Starter Set (which is comparable in terms of content and size). On D&D Beyond you can also pick up the Ultimate Bundle (which contains both the physical and digital copy) for $59.99 USD or the digital only copy for $19.99 USD. If you purchase the Ultimate Bundle to you also get an Upside Down Digital Dice Set and the Upside Down Digital Map and Sticker Pack for use on D&D Beyond.
Notably, you can also purchase it on Roll20 for $19.99 USD.

What was the previous DnD Stranger Things box set
In April 2019, Wizards of the Coast and Netflix released a new DnD Stranger Things Starter Set. Designed to introduce the Dungeons & Dragons fifth edition rules to new players, the set’s look is based on the iconic “Red Box” released in 1983. The now out-of-print set contains a 44‑page rulebook, six dice, five pre‑generated level 3 characters inspired by Stranger Things‘ Mike, Will, Dustin, Lucas and Eleven, plus two Demogorgon miniatures (one painted and one unpainted).
The centerpiece of the box set is “Hunt for the Thessalhydra,” a streamlined adventure that loosely mirrors the campaign Mike created for his friends in the series. The adventure itself is set partly in the Upside Down and laid out in notebook-style pages.

Final Thoughts
Dungeons & Dragons owes much of its recent popularity to Stranger Things, which has significantly raised awareness about the game among mainstream audiences, so it’s great to see another collaboration. Like the final season of the show however, It remains to be seen how it all plays out. The box set is available for pre-order now from your local game store, as well as on Amazon and D&D Beyond.
We’ll be keeping a close eye on this story in the days ahead and will update this page with new information as it’s made available. In the meantime, below is the official trailer from the D&D YouTube channel.
