The New D&D Season of Champions (Everything We Know So Far)

In early March of this year, Wizards of the Coast finally presented their D&D Roadmap, listing all of the new books, accessories and organized play events for the remainder of 2026. One intiative that caught the attention of many fans was the introduction of new D&D Seasons, which are three-month periods built around a unique theme.

So far, we have confirmation on three seasons: the Season of Horror (running from April to June with a focus on the upcoming Ravenloft: The Horrors Within supplement) and the Season of Magic (running from July to September with a focus on the new Arcana Unleashed supplement).

Also on the roadmap was the Season of Champions, which will be running in the winter of 2026. Wizards of the Coast, however, hasn’t revealed a ton of information on what to expect when the seasons rolls out (although there’s been plenty of speculation among the fan community)? Below, we take a look at everything we know so far.

When does the D&D Season of Champions take place?

The Season of Champions will run from October through December 2026. Key dates have not yet been fully revealed, but the general timeline is a s follows:

  • Early October: Pre-orders open for new untitled D&D book.
  • Early November: Early Access to the new book for D&D Beyond Master Tier subscribers.
  • Late November: Early Access to the new book for D&D Beyond Hero Tier subscribers.
  • Early December: Wide release for the new D&D book and any related accessories.

What D&D products will be included in the Season of Champions?

So far we don’t know what the main book and accessories will be for the Season of Champions. Some have speculated that it will be a new Dark Sun book (based on a recent playtest that featured a Gladiator Fighter subclass). However based on the timing and recent Unearthed Arcana playtests, our belief is that it will be a new martial class sourcebook. This will likely consist of updates to five existing subclasses from past D&D 5e supplements: the Oathbreaker Paladin, Cavalier Fighter, Path of the Ancestral Guardian Barbarian, Path of the Storm Herald Barbarian and the Way of the Drunken Master.

We also believe it will contain three brand new subclasses: the Warrior of the Mystic Arts Monk, the Oath of the Spellguard Paladin and the Magic Stealer Rogue, all of which we’re featured in a late 2025 playtest. We’ll know more in the weeks ahead if this theory is correct.

What D&D events will be taking place during the Season of Champions?

So far, Wizards of the Coast has not yet released an events schedule for the Season of Champions. We do, however, know that the season will be a key part of the recently revived D&D Encounters program. This program offers exclusive game material, accessories and organized play events at local game store.

t’s not clear what other accessories or adventures will be released as part of the Season of Champions, but we’ll update this page with all the details once we know more.

Final Thoughts

As of this writing there’s still a lot of unanswered questions around the Season of Champion. Based on what we’ve seen so far for the first two seasons, however, a good bet is that’s we’ll be getting a lot of new material for martial classes.

We’ll be keeping a close eye on updates around the new D&D seasons in the days ahead and will update this page with new information as it’s made available.
