At the annual D&D Direct event, held online in August of 2024, Wizards of the Coast unveiled a number of new products and gameplay initiatives for Dungeons & Dragons for the coming year. During the livestream, one of the many projects on the slate was a then unnamed DnD Dragon Anthology coming out in July 2025.
Over the past few months, Wizards of the Coast offered more information on what the book will include, including confirming that its official name is Dragon Delves. The new anthology will be the first adventure supplement to feature the updated DnD 2024 rules that were rolled out in the new Player’s Handbook and, as the name suggests, will focus exclusively on dragons. It’s currently available for pre-order on D&D Beyond and Amazon.
So what else can players expect in this tome of draconic goodness? Below, we break out everything we know so far.

What is the “Dragon Delves” adventure anthology about?
Dragon Delves will consist of 10 short adventures designed for characters from Levels 1 to 12. Each adventure is centred around a specific type of chromatic or metallic dragon and, like other recent DnD 5e anthologies, can be run individually as one shots or linked together as part of a larger campaign. Three of the adventurers can also be run as a solo, one-player experiences.
Notably, Wizards of the Coast has highlighted that the adventures will follow a simple prep-style that was featured in the 2024 Dungeon Master’s Guide, requiring very little time to get up and running, meaning that even new DMs will be able to use them.
And while an entire book of dragon-themed adventures may seem like well-trod ground (after all the creatures are in the name of the game), in the August 2024 D&D Direct video Senior Designer James Wyatt noted that “it’s kind of surprising how many people say that they’ve actually never fought a dragon in D&D.”

When is the “Dragon Delves” anthology coming out?
Currently, the new DnD dragon anthology is scheduled for release on July 8th, 2025. As with other Wizards of the Coast products, however, you will be able to pre-order the digital and physical bundle via D&D Beyond, which means you’ll be able to access the digital version several weeks earlier,
This will also likely be the case if you pre-order from your local game store if they have opted into Wizards of the Coast’s early access program.

How much is the “Dragon Delves” anthology?
The print version of Dragon Delves retails for $49.95 USD (which is a comparable MSRP to to other recent DnD 5e books). The print and digital bundle currently retails for $95.96 (discounted to $59.95 USD as a pre-order) on D&D Beyond. It’s interesting to note that despite the recent tariffs there does not appear to an increase in cost for the book for either US or international buyers.
Notably, if you do purchase the digital version, it includes stickers and 22 pre-populated maps for use on D&D Beyond Maps, Wizards of the Coast 2D virtual tabletop platform, which is available to subscribers and still technically in Beta testing.

Will there be an alternate cover for the “Dragon Delves” anthology?
Yes, there is an alternate cover for Dragon Delves from illustrator Justine Jones that features a 70s psychedelic art style that looks incredible. Notably, the standard cover is illustrated by award-winning British comic book artist Greg Staples and is also absolutely stunning. It’s not clear, however, if Beadle & Grimm’s will be producing any alternate versions of the book, which has been the case for other DnD 5e products.

It’s also worth noting that Dragon Delves will be taking a much different approach to the artwork than we’ve seen with other products. In fact, each adventure will feature original new art by a different artist, covering a variety of different styles, many of which are a radical departure from what we’ve seen in recent books. Artists in Dragon Delves include Montreal-based designer Ed Kwong, German illustrator Dominik Mayer, an black and white artist Luke Eidensink.
Notably, some of the artwork will be a radical departure from the typical Wizards of the Coast D&D illustrations. For example, a cartoonish style for the adventure featuring a gold dragon (see below).

What other tie-in products will be available?
Typically, WizKids releases a variety of monster and NPC miniatures that tie-in to DnD adventure supplements, so it’s likely we’ll see similar tie-in products with the upcoming dragon anthology.
It’s also likely that book will integrate with the new 2D Maps VTT via D&D Beyond, although it’s not yet clear if it will also be compatible with Project Sigil, the codename for upcoming 3D DnD virtual tabletop, which is currently in Beta testing and which will likely be significantly closer to launch by the time the DnD anthology hits shelves.

Final Thoughts
Adventure anthologies are of course, nothing new for DnD 5e, with books such as Journey Through the Radiant Citadel, Candlekeep Mysteries and Keys from the Golden Vault all featuring collections of original adventures designed for a variety of different character tiers. We’ve also seen anthologies like Tales from the Yawning Portal and the more recent Quests from the Infinite Staircase update old school adventures for fifth edition.
While creating an anthology of nothing but “dragons in dungeons” may seem like burning some low hanging fruit on the part of Wizards of the Coast, it will really depend on the quality of the adventures. We’ll be keeping a close eye on this story in the days ahead and will update this page with more information as it’s made available. In the meantime, it’s currently available for pre-order on D&D Beyond and Amazon.
Below is a recent reveal video from the official Dungeons & Dragons YouTube channel which offers some more information on the new Dragon Delves anthology.
