D&D Beyond Gets a Total Party Thrill With “Everybody Dies”

Last summer, popular third-party RPG publisher Beadle & Grimm’s released Faster, Purple Worm! Everybody Dies, Vol. 1, a collection of unique one shot adventures for Dungeons & Dragons fifth edition in which a total party kill isn’t just possible, it’s the main goal. The book was a tie-in to the actual play D&D series, Faster, Purple Worm! Kill! Kill!, with physical copies available from the B&G website and the PDF version available on DMsGuild.

Now the book has finally made its way on D&D Beyond, with a new integration with the popular digital platform. So just what’s included in this new one-shot slaughterfest? Below, we sort through all the gory details.

What isFaster, Purple Worm! Everybody Dies, Vol. 1“?

Faster, Purple Worm! Everybody Dies, Vol. 1 is a 138 page adventure anthology for Dungeons & Dragons fifth edition. It contains 15 adventures, each of which is designed for 1st level characters and which can be completed in 1 to 2 hours. The twist, however, is that by the end of each adventure the characters are all but guaranteed to be killed, with the book taking an over the top and often hilarious approach to how PCs met their demise.

Notably, the adventures were featured in the Faster, Purple Worm! Kill! Kill! TV show, which stars celebrity D&D players like Deborah Ann Woll, Seth Green, Anjali Bhimani, as well as Beadle & Grimm’s co-founder Matthew Lillard. The book itself was also the result of a successful 2024 Kickstarter. It includes original artwork, maps and handouts, and the PDF and print versions include behind the scenes information on the filming of the show.

What’s new with the D&D Beyond version of Everybody Dies?

The D&D Beyond version is essentially the same as the print and PDF versions available from Beadle & Grimm’s and DMsGuild. It includes the same 15 adventures for level 1 PCs and includes iconic D&D locations, including traveling to Barovia to face down Strahd or taking on the dreaded beholder crime lord Xanathar. It does, however, include some additional elements that integrate with D&D Beyond, including:

  • 11 quickplay maps that have been ported over to the Maps VTT.
  • 25 monster stat blocks (consisting of 9 new creatures and 16 variants)
  • 17 new magic items which can be dropped into D&D Beyond character sheets
  • 8 handouts which can be shared with players via D&D Beyond.

How much is “Faster, Purple Worm! Everybody Dies, Vol. 1“?

The print copy of the book retails for $45 USD on the Beadle & Grimm’s website (not including shipping and handling), with the PDF going for $25 USD (you can bundle them both together for $50 USD). The PDF is also $25 USD on DMsGuild (there is no print on demand version available as of this printing). Notably, there is also an alternate cover of the hardcover which is a Kickstarter exclusive that went for $60 USD (and unfortunately is now sold out).

On D&D Beyond, the book retails for $19.99 USD, so the price point here is actually pretty solid (which isn’t something we often see with D&D Beyond releases).

Who is Beadle & Grimm’s?

Beadle & Grimm’s is a tabletop RPG publisher founded in 2018 by actor Matthew Lillard, along with Bill Rehor, Paul Shapiro, Charlie Rehor and Jon Ciccolini. The company has since become best known for their premium, boxed editions of existing Dungeons & Dragons 5E books. These typically include physical handouts, battle maps, encounter cards, in-world props and DM aids.

Over the past few years, B&G has also produced a range of other high-end products, including board games, dice, apparel and accessories. They’ve also expanded their existing product line to work with other major IPs, including Avatar: The Last Air Bender, Star Trek and Magic: The Gathering.

Final Thoughts

Beadle & Grimm’s is best known for their high-end versions of existing Dungeons & Dragons supplements, so it’s great to see them stretching out into their own original content. If you’re a player or a DM whose always wondered what a Total Party Kill is like, this book may just be the perfect chance to bring on the slaughter.
