If you’re heading to Gen Con this year, things are going to look a little different when it comes to Dungeons & Dragons. That’s because rather than setting up a booth on the main exhibition floor, Wizards of the Coast is completely taking over the historic Indiana Repertory Theatre and the Indiana Rooftop Ballroom .

The result is what they’re calling The D&D Tower, a massive, six-story venue packed with live performances, actual plays, celebrity events and interactive gaming. Open throughout Gen Con from July 30th to August 2nd, 2026, the Tower is essentially a mini-convention within a convention and is entirely dedicated to all things D&D. You can learn more and get tickets on the official D&D website.

Below, we take a look at what to expect from the venue, what’s happening on each stage and how you can experience it in person and online.

What is the D&D Tower at Gen Con 2026?

Essentially, WotC is consolidating all of its official Gen Con programming under one roof. Instead of lining up in a convention hall, fans can explore six unique D&D-themed floors.

Aside from the scheduled stage shows, it’s worth noting that the venue will also feature a D&D Carnival for fans to explore between sessions, alongside interactive short-play spaces.

For those who aren’t able to make it in person, WotC will also be live streaming the main stage events, D&D Talks and the Actual Play Amphitheater for free directly on the official D&D YouTube channel.

How much are tickets to the D&D Tower?

If you’re planning your weekend layout, here’s how entry works:

  • Individual Tickets Required: While the venue consolidates D&D programming, attendees must secure tickets for the individual shows, panels, and game sessions via the official Gen Con portal. Some of these are free, but most require a payment (usually around $8 USD) and there are limited numbers available.
  • Free Streaming Options: If you can’t get a ticket or are staying home, the Main Stage, D&D Talks and Actual Play Amphitheater will be broadcasted live on the official D&D YouTube channel.

Final thoughts

Over the past few years Wizards of the Coast’s D&D presence has been surprisingly muted at Gen Con, so it’s great to see the company go all-in with a significant amount of resources and events. It remains to be seen, however, how the community and fans will be respond to this major new venue.

We’ll be keeping a close on the new D&D Tower as we get closer to Gen Con and will be doing complete coverage on all the major announcements. In the meantime, you can learn more about WotC’s Gen Con programming for 2026 on the official D&D website.
