Demeo x D&D: Battlemarked Gets Acquisitions Inc. Update

Resolution Games has officially launched the latest free content update for their Demeo x Dungeons & Dragons: Battlemarked VR title. This time, however, the game is getting a crossover with Acquisitions Incorporated, the legendary adventuring party created by Penny Arcade, which has since spawned comics, multiple actual play series and its very own D&D supplement.

Players are tasked with joining Acq Inc. CEO Omin Dran for a series of corporate schemes that prioritize profit over high heroics, ensuring that even the most well-laid plans are bound to spiral into chaotic good comedy. Below, we outline the path to gold, glory and gross revenue margins.

What’s in the Demeo x D&D Acquisitions Incorporated update?

The free update brings a significant amount of new content and system-wide refinements to the Battlemarked, including:

  • “A Golden Opportunity” Adventure: A new standalone questline featuring Omin Dran, voiced by Penny Arcade co-founder Jerry Holkins. This “B-plot” story arc consists of five side quests that can be integrated into Campaign 1 or played as a continuous 2–4 hour experience for seasoned veterans.
  • Exclusive Rewards: Players who successfully navigate these questionable business ventures can unlock the “Golden Opportunity Die” and various “Golden Weapons.”
  • Campaign Difficulty Settings: The customization options which were previously limited to One-Shot dungeons are now available for full campaigns. This includes difficulty scaling (Normal, Hard, Very Hard), elite enemy variants and the ability to toggle respawning enemies.
  • Multiplayer Quality-of-Life: Finding a party is now more efficient with an improved Room Browser, allowing players to filter by difficulty, language preference and specific gameplay focuses.
  • New One-Shot: The dragon boss encounter from the “Embers of Chaos” campaign, Fastness of Green Shadows, is now available as a standalone One-Shot dungeon.

What is Penny Arcade’s Acquisitions Incorporated?

Acquisitions Incorporated (often abbreviated to “Acq Inc”) started out in 2008 as a Dungeons & Dragons actual play series starring the team behind the Penny Arcade webcomic. The show follows the exploits of a group of heroes in the Forgotten Realms setting who literally treat adventure as a corporate venture, with episodes blending fantasy tropes with office humor.

The original show featured Wizards of the Coast designer Chris Perkins as Dungeon Master with a primary cast that included:

  • Jerry Holkins as Omin Dran: The ruthless, penny-pinching Half-Elf Cleric and CEO of Acquisitions Incorporated. His loyalty lies firmly with the company balance sheets.
  • Mike Krahulik as Jim Darkmagic: A flamboyant, narcissistic Human Wizard from the prestigious Darkmagic family. He loves dramatic flair, stage magic tricks, and regularly shouts his own name.
  • Scott Kurtz as Binwin Bronzebottom: A short-tempered Dwarven Fighter/Paladin who loved beer and axes. He was a core member of the early seasons until the character’s dramatic death.
  • Patrick Rothfuss as Viari: A swashbuckling Rogue who functions as the team’s agile, chandelier-swinging “intern”.
  • Anna Prosser as Evelyn Marthain: A fiercely optimistic and intensely loyal Human Paladin of Lathander.
  • Jasmine Bhullar as Certainty Dran: A powerful Aasimar Bard and the “absolutely flawless” daughter of CEO Omin Dran.
  • Wil Wheaton as Aeofel Elhromane: An Elven Avenger whose tragic death in an acid pit became one of the show’s most infamous early running jokes.

Over the years, Acquisitions Inc. has expanded significantly, with the characters appearing in various Penny Arcade web comics and resulting in numerous episodes, including a popular spin-off The “C” Team. They’ve also held a variety of live, sold-out performances at major venues and conventions, including PAX.

In 2019, the characters officially became part of Dungeons & Dragons canon with the Acquisitions Incorporated D&D 5th Edition sourcebook from Wizards of the Coast. More recently, Acq. Inc has transitioned from D&D, with a new actual play series that will use the Daggerheart core mechanics.

The new Acquisitions Incorporated update marks another major milestone for Battlemarked, and one that taps into a hilarious and much beloved part of D&D lore. The release also comes hot on the heels of the Warlock update that rolled out in March 2026, with publisher Resolution Games also confirming that there will be more DLC for the game in the near future.

In the meantime, you can learn more about the free update on the Battlemarked website. Below is also a teaser trailer with more info on what to expect.
