Resolution Games has just announced the first official update for Demeo x Dungeons & Dragons: Battlemarked, the VR game which was released six months ago in October 2025. Referred to as the “Warlock Update,” the download content includes a new playable character, an expansion adventure and a few significant changes to the game’s mechanics.
Notably, Demeo x D&D: Battlemarked has been generally well received among both critics and fans, with a current 80% rating on Metacritic (although the game’s VR nature means it doesn’t have quite the same reach as more traditional console titles, as it’s currently only playable on Steam VR, PS VR2 and Meta Quest.)
So just what’s included in Battlemarked’s new Warlock update? Below, we Eldritch Blast apart all the details.

What is included in the new Demeo x D&D Update?
The Warlock update was officially released on March 17th, 2026 and introduces several major gameplay elements to Battlemarked.
The New Warlock Hero
The most significant addition is a new hero named Azruss Drevontir, a female Pact of the Blade Warlock human. Azruss marks the seventh playable hero for the game, joining Ash (a Tiefling Rogue), Vkriss Bolthrax (a Dragonborn Paladin), Jessix Copperleaf (a Human Ranger), Tibby Hopplebock (a Halfling Sorcerer), Tharok Kuldelver (a Dwarf Fighter) and Lyria Nimara (an Elf Bard).
To unlock Azruss, however, you’ll first have to complete a new side quest entitled “The Shard’s Shadow” which can be found in Crown of Frost (one of the game’s two avaiable campaigns). Once completed, Azruss can be used in any other adventure and game mode.

New One Shot Adventure
The Battlemarked update also introduces a new one-shot adventure entitled “Auril’s Cradle.” It is, however, only available to players who have unlocked the ancient Netheres ruins of Ythryn in the Crown of Frost campaign.
This alone is fairly impressive, given that the adventure is fully available in the free update (something we rarely see from new titles).

Gameplay & Quality of Life Improvements
The update also includes a number of changes to gameplay and accessibility.
- Hirelings no longer available: Previously, hirelings served as temporary party fillers and did not gain experience. This feature has now been removed based on player feedback and now only heroes can be in a player’s roster.
- Expanded language support: The game also now includes options for Italian, Brazilian Portuguese and Chinese (both Simplified and Traditional).
- Bad Luck Protection: The update also introduces a new Bad Luck Protection system. When a player misses an attack roll, they are granted a temporary blessing from the goddess Tymora that allows the player to roll two dice in their next combat attempt and takes the higher result. This feature can be toggled off at any time.
- Stronger Foes: Battlemarked has also expanded one shot difficulty options. Elite enemy variants now appear across Normal, Hard, and Very Hard settings. Bosses in One Shots feature different versions depending on the selected difficulty, and players can now enable or disable respawning enemies.

Final Thoughts
Seeing Demeo x D&D Battlemarked get a major update so soon after launch is a good sign for the game’s longevity. With a new class, a new adventure and some major quality of life enhancements, it’s a solid move in terms of supporting existing fans and potentially grabbing a few new ones at the same time.
