Wizards of the Coast has just announced that Dungeon & Dragons is now officially a part of the Fortnite video game. The new project, which just launched today, was developed in conjunction with the community creator network Chartis and custom Fornite development studio Teravision Games, and brings D&D content to five custom-built Fornite Islands.
Notably, this isn’t quite the same large-scale collaboration that some fans might have hoped for (Fortnite publisher Epic Games has worked with major IPs including the NFL, Marvel, DC and Star Wars to develop exclusive character skins and digital content), but it’s still a significant launch for the D&D brand.
So just what can D&D and Fornite fans expect in this new crossover? Below, we button mash together all the details.

What’s included in the new D&D Fortnite collaboration?
The collab, which you can playing starting today on January 20th, 2026, features five new Fortnite island that were developed using Epic’s Unreal Editor for Fornite (UEFN) toolset, and designed as part of a “launch and learn” initiative to explore how D&D can connect with a diverse range of Fortnite players in fun and meaningful ways. The islands include a PvP arena, a social hub, a platformer, a co-op boss fight and the largest co-op roguelike in Fortnite history.
They also include a number of familiar D&D locations from the Forgotten Realms including theYawning Portal tavern from the city of Waterdeep, the Spine of the World mountains from Icewind Dale and the volcano Mount Hotenow located near the city of Neverwinter. In addition, the islands include a number of NPCs from D&D lore, including the ancient red dragon Klauth and the powerful arch-lich Valindra Shadowmantle.

You can explore the new collab content using the Island Codes listed below. To access them, just launch Fortnite, hit the Play button in the top left corner, scroll down until you see a Search bar and then type the code into the island you want to visit:
- DnD Boxfights – Island Code 1190-4691-0255

Final Thoughts
Video games have become a central part of Wizards of the Coast’s strategy for the Dungeons & Dragons brand, so it’s on surprise that they’re bringing content from the tabletop to one of the world’s most popular video games. It’s a solid strategy in terms of introducing Fornite players to D&D and connecting with existing fans in a completely new medium. Whether the content is embraced by both communities, however, remains to be seen.
If you aren’t already a Fortnite player, you can learn more and download the game for PC and console from the official website.
