D&D Beyond Offers New Free Dragon Minis for Sigil VTT

It’s been almost four months since Wizards of the Coast scraped the Sigil VTT, laying off 90% of the development team and essentially keeping the product on life support. Since that time Sigil has been available for free to D&D Beyond subscribers, with WotC also quietly releasing a number of digital minis to go along with it.

The most recent batch of minis is the “Dragon Pack,” which feature a variety of unpainted digital dragons which you can download for free now on D&D Beyond. As with previous Sigil products, there was also almost no fanfare or promotion on the part of Wizards of the Coast. Below, we take a closer look at what’s included.

What are the new free Sigil “Dragon Pack” minis?

The new Sigil “Dragon Pack” contains the following minis, all of which are based on the new 2024 Monster Manual:

  • Blue Dragon Wyrmling
  • Red Dragon Wyrmling
  • Wyvern
  • Young Red Dragon

Notably, all are unpainted (which seems kind of odd for a VTT) and you will need to have Sigil installed on your computer and be a D&D subscriber of any tier. Surprisingly, the “Dragon Pack” does not contain the gold dragon mini which was promised to users who pre-ordered the DnD 2024 Digital & Physical Core Book Bundle.

The exclusive gold dragon digital miniature which was released on Sigil for users who pre-ordered the D&D 2024 core rules bundle.

Final Thoughts

It’s still sad to think about what might have been with Sigil, and in a way it’s even more depressing seeing Wizards of the Coast continuing to quietly release these free minis on D&D Beyond. It remains to be seen how many more of these we’ll see in the future, but for now, they’re proof that Sigil is still alive… if only just barely.

You can download the new “Dragon Pack” minis for free now on on D&D Beyond.

Cameron Nichols is a Senior Editor who lives in Boston, Massachusetts, and has been playing D&D since the early 90s, when he was introduced by his older brother and cut his teeth on AD&D 2nd Edition. Since then he’s played virtually every RPG he could get his nerdy little mitts on (including a weird Goth phase in the early 2000s when he rocked Vampire: The Masquerade pretty hard). His favorite D&D campaign setting is the Forgotten Realms and his favorite character to play was a Half-Orc Barbarian named Grug (who was unfortunately devoured by a gelatinous cube).
