In April 2022, Wizards of the Coast purchased the D&D Beyond digital platform for a whopping $146 million. Since then, it’s become a key part of the Dungeons & Dragons brand strategy. Initially, WotC was careful to guard their new acquisition, featuring only official products on the D&D Beyond digital marketplace.
In the past few years, however, that’s begun to change, with D&D Beyond now featuring popular 3rd-party books from publishers such as Kobold Press, Ghostfire Gaming and MCDM, to name just a few. With new titles being released all the time, however, we thought it might be a good idea to keep track of them all (something that isn’t currently easy to find on D&D Beyond). For ease of reference, we’ve broken them out from newest to oldest and included the publisher name, the rules format and a brief description of each book. We’ll be sure to keep this page updated as new titles are released on D&D Beyond

In particular, this means providing these types of creatures with unique abilities called “Villain Actions.” Similar to the existing DnD 5e concept of Legendary/Lair Actions, in Flee, Mortals, Villain Actions allow monsters to act outside their usual turn with unique effects and abilities that add a new level strategy, drama and tension to encounters.
